Heart of Mine

Stephen Duke

Oh heart of mine, why suffer you still?

Do the trials of life still stifle your will?

Does the hope you sought yet remain at the Hill?

At the place you've turned, seeking meaning alone

Oh spirit of mine, for what do you fight?

Are there not wars being fought in the night?

Are there not Angels still holding the light?

At the place you've turned, seeking meaning alone

Oh soul of mine, must you hold to despair?

Will you not hope, while the veil it tears?

Will you peer beyond, or be lost in life's cares?

At the place you've turned, seeking meaning alone

Oh Father of mine, where have you gone?

Has your face turned away, will your love for me dawn?

Have you cursed dust and bones to with you not belong?

At the place I've turned away, seeking meaning alone

Oh Son of mine, was I truly worth the cost?

How could the bloody limbs restore what was lost?

How can you know love, though your love I have tossed?

At the place I've turned away, seeking meaning alone

Oh Spirit of mine, where are you now?

"Still here", you say, "I've never left your side"

"Though the path you've taken has muffled my breath"

"At the place you've drifted, seeking meaning in the darkness"

Oh heart of Mine, find peace in the still

Find strength at the end and clarity of will

Find hope that you seek, it remains at the Hill

At the place you've turned back, seeking My heart alone

Oh spirit of Mine, fight the good fight

Though there be wars being fought in the night

I send you My angels, be not afraid of the light

At the place you've turned back, seeking My heart alone

Oh soul of Mine, hold not to despair

Have I not said, that the veil it tears?

Seek all that's beyond, I will handle life's cares

At the place you've turned back, seeking My heart alone
